RAHMA

 BETWEEN FAITH & IDEOLOGY

SHORT DOCUMENTARY

CONCEPT

Rahma is not a documentary about extraordinary phenomena, but about what happens when a deeply held conviction becomes the subject of public judgment. Through Rafael Ulloa and the community he has built around him, the film asks what it means to believe—and to continue believing—when the world demands proof.

DRAMATIC QUESTION

What happens when a deeply held conviction clashes with society’s critical gaze?

THEME

The tension between faith and evidence in a society that only validates as real what can be measures, proven, or disproven.

LOGLINE

An Uruguayan spiritual leader who claims to be in contact with higher intelligences faces public and media discredit as he tries to preserve the deep meaning of his message and the community that follows him.

STORYLINE

At 73 years old, Rafael Ulloa leads Rahma Uruguay, a community that believes they maintain contact with higher intelligences. For years, his message gave meaning to a large and committed community. But when the Uruguayan media begins to publicly discredit him, Rafael and his community face the possibility that their faith will be judged and stripped of meaning in the eyes of society. The film observes this moment of tension: his deeply held conviction put to the test by public scrutiny, and Rafael’s determination to preserve the meaning of his message, even if the world chooses not to believe him.

SINOPSIS

At 73 years old, Rafael Ulloa dedicates his life to a mission that transcends the boundaries of everyday life. As the leader of Rahma Uruguay, he guides a community that, through gatherings, meditations, and spiritual journeys, seeks to expand its consciousness and explore realities that he considers linked to the divine and to intelligences beyond conventional human experience.

In settings such as the La Aurora ranch—known for accounts of sightings and healing experiences—Rafael guides his followers on a path that combines spirituality, self-knowledge, and inner transformation. For those who participate, Rahma represents a way to answer fundamental questions about existence, the purpose of life, and humanity’s place in the universe.

At the same time, Rafael shares his teachings through his radio program “Contacto Directo,” which focuses on the evolution of human consciousness. But as he gains visibility, he also becomes the subject of media attention and controversy, with his experiences portrayed as a paranormal phenomenon and his credibility subjected to public scrutiny.

“Rahma: Between Faith & Ideology” paints an intimate portrait of Rafael and the community that finds meaning in his teachings, exploring the line between belief and skepticism, between personal experience and social validation. In the face of media scrutiny and misunderstanding, Rafael remains steadfast in his purpose: to convey a message he considers essential for the future of humanity.
